British Airways Pulls Plug on Eye Sponsorship
BRITISH Airways is to stop sponsoring the London Eye, eight years after starting its association with the iconic attraction.
The airline said that its sponsorship priorities had changed and from next month it would not be involved with the giant wheel which has attracted more than 27mvisitors since launched on Millennium Eve.
Chief executive Willie Walsh said the airline’s agreement to sponsor the attraction had come to a natural end.
“It has been a very good attraction for us but we felt it was time to move on.”
A spokeswoman for BA said: “We are proud to have played a key role in creating the London Eye. It has become a modern symbol for London worldwide and helped regenerate the South Bank.”
