JetBlue Airways has announced that, beginning March 8, 2008, it will start a daily nonstop service between Orlando and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
JetBlue has reported that Puerto Plata is its third city served in the Dominican Republic and the 10th Caribbean/Atlantic destination, including: Aruba, Bermuda, Cancun, Nassau, Aguadilla, Ponce and San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Santiago and Santo Domingo. On January 17, 2008 the airline will begin nonstop service from John F Kennedy Airport to St Maarten in the Netherlands Antilles.
Dave Barger, CEO of JetBlue Airways, said: "We're excited to be Puerto Plata's first low-fare carrier and the only airline to offer nonstop service to New York city. You bring the suntan lotion, swimsuit and flip-flops, and we'll bring the comfy leather seats, free snacks and movies and award-winning customer service, making the trip as enjoyable as the destination."
