UK Coal Mines Profit From Energy Costs
January 17, 2008
SURGING global energy prices triggered a four-fold jump in profits to around Pounds 69m at UK Coal.
Breezy comments on its future prospects were underpinned by last month’s deal to supply power generator EDF with all of its coal over the next four years.
That agreement effectively saved UK Coal’s Thoresby colliery from closure. Its shares slipped 43.4p to 3781.2p amid profit taking and on concerns over a stuttering commercial property market.
