Area Firm to Relocate to Schuylkill County

Jan. 18–Solar Innovations Inc., Myerstown, Lebanon County, has begun construction on a $9.7 million manufacturing plant in Pine Grove Business Park, Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, adding 48 jobs to its 58-person work force.

Greg Header, Solar Innovations president, said the firm plans to relocate its operation from Myerstown to the 14-acre site in the business park, doubling available production space to accommodate growth.

The company hopes to be in the new plant by the summer.

Michele Shockey, manager of administration for Solar Innovations, said the company is not sure what it will do with the building in Myerstown.

Solar Innovations manufactures, retrofits and installs sloped overhead glazing products. Its product line includes solariums, conservatories, canopies, pool and spa enclosures, curtain walls, folding glass walls, horticultural greenhouses, and a variety of terrace doors, garden windows, and skylight types, domes, pyramids and barrel vaults.

“With our new facility, Solar Innovations looks forward to becoming an active member of this growing community, setting an example of how Pennsylvania businesses should contribute and give back to the communities in which we live and work,” Header said.

According to Schuylkill Economic Development Corp. Vice President Gerry Heffner, $1.68 million of the total financing package was made available through a Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority loan.

All of the employees of Solar Innovations will continue at the new location. Several already live in Schuylkill County.

Solar Innovations was established in 1998 with Header as sole owner. The company markets its products across the country and some products have been shipped internationally.
