Oil Prices Likely to Grow, Protect Russia From Crisis – Merrill Lynch
January 23, 2008
MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax) – Oil prices will likely rise and cushion the Russian economy against global crises, John Thain, the chief executive of Merrill Lynch, told a press conference in Moscow.
The Russian economy is fairly dependent on the energy sector. Energy prices may rise and fall, but in the long term they will rise, and this will shield the Russian economy from crisis, Thain said.
