Need to Know: Coal Talks Denied

UK COAL, Britain’s biggest coal miner, said it did not expect to enter talks with a specialist investment fund reported to be interested in bidding for the firm.
Reports at the weekend claimed that Austria’s Meinl International Power, a specialist investment fund launched earlier this year, had told UK Coal it was interested in buying its mining assets.
The company responded on Monday with a statement saying: “UK Coal confirms that no discussions are anticipated in relation to this initiative.”
