Turkmen Leader Approves Project to Build Solar Power Station

Asgabat, 24 January: A solar power station will be built in Turkmenistan, which is rich in oil and gas. The project was approved by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow today at a meeting with the head of Turkey’s Calik Holding, Ahmet Calik. The company is the major construction contractor of key social facilities in Turkmenistan, the presidential press service says.
“Turkmenistan is planning to actively introduce resource-saving technology,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said at the meeting. He also noted “the need for a thorough scientifically-proved project and its full compliance with the requirements of environmental security”.
