Iran Ups Gas Production to Cover Suspension of Import From Turkmenistan

Tehran, 26 January: The director of the National Iranian Gas Company [NIGC], Mohammad Baqerban, has reported on the increase in the gas production during [the month of] Dey this year [22 December 2007-20 January 2008] by 30m cubic metres, and the breaking of the record of daily production of 469m cubic metres of gas per day.

According to NIGC public relations on Saturday [26 January], Baqerban has said that various refineries of the country have contributed to this increase in the production capacity. He added: As a result, the gas shortage in the country due to the suspension of import of gas from Turkmenistan has been fully compensated by the increase in the production and capacity of the country’s refineries.
