Destination: Toronto: Two Flights a Day Are Being Added From, to Richmond

Jan. 26–Air Canada will begin offering two daily direct flights between Toronto and Richmond on May 1 through its regional partner Air Canada Jazz.
This will be the only nonstop international flight from Richmond International Airport, airport spokesman Troy Bell said yesterday.
The flights will leave Richmond at 11:10 a.m. and 7:25 p.m. and arrive in Toronto at 1:20 p.m. and 9:35 p.m. The flights from Toronto will depart at 8:40 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. and arrive in Richmond at 10:50 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The 37-seat propjet Dash 8 airliners will connect Richmond with the newly built Air Canada terminal at Pearson International Airport in Toronto.
“We believe that these flights will be particularly attractive to business travelers,” said John Rebber, Air Canada spokesman, “and we think the area around Richmond will be very attractive to Canadian leisure travelers.”
The company offers a la carte pricing through its Web site, www.aircanada.com.
This means passengers get a discount for no checked bags and can buy lounge access and in-flight meal vouchers. The airline also offers prepaid flight subscriptions.
Businesses and individuals have access to these services and passes.
“Toronto is our number one international business destination. In 2006, we had approximately 30,000 passengers flying between Richmond and all of Canada,” Bell said. “I wouldn’t be surprised to see those numbers grow by 30 to 40 percent.”
