Vietnam: New Hydroelectric Plant in Northern Province Joins National Grid

Hanoi (VNA) -The Tuyen Quang Hydro-electricity Plant’s No 1 generator was connected up to the national power grid on January 3.
The plant, which cost over 7 trillion VND (438 million VND) to build, will have three generators when finished with a total capacity of 342MW.
The plant’s reservoir is capable of holding 2.24 billion cu.m of water-including 1 billion cu.m of floodwater -and has an area of more than 81sq.km.
The Song Da Corporation’s engineers are installing generators No 2 and 3, which are expected to be operational by the end of the year.
Tuyen Quang Hydro-electricity Plant, located on the Gam River in Na Hang district, in northern Tuyen Quang province, will be the third largest hydro-electricity plant in northern Vietnam after the Son La Hydro-electricity Plant in Son La province (which is under construction) and the Da River Hydro-electricity Plant in Hoa Binh province.
The project was financed by the Electricity of Vietnam.
