Ford Sales Dropped 4 Percent in January

Ford Motor Co. sales dropped 4 percent in January compared with January 2007, while sales of some models advanced, the company said Friday.
Sales of the Edge climbed 95 percent, the company said. Lincoln MKX sales rose 78 percent, while Focus sales jumped 44 percent.
However, total sales, which includes Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo divisions, dropped.
It's not going to get any easier -- at least for a while, said Jim Farley, Ford's vice president of marketing and communications. Recent monetary actions and the proposed stimulus package may help the economy later this year, but we're not pinning our hopes on that.
