BG Group Hosts H.R.H. The Duke of York Visit to Lake Charles LNG Import Facility
Today, BG North America (BG), a wholly-owned subsidiary of BG Group plc, along with Trunkline LNG, will host His Royal Highness, The Duke of York, formerly Prince Andrew, at North America’s largest operating LNG import terminal in Lake Charles.
During his visit, The Duke of York will be given a demonstration that illustrates the characteristics and safe qualities of LNG. He will also be given a tour of the import facility where BG has 100 percent of the import capacity rights.
Martin Houston, BG Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Americas & Global LNG said:
“We are honoured to host H.R.H. The Duke of York today. In his role of promoting U.K. business interests in the U.S., it is relevant for him to see firsthand how a British-based company is helping supply U.S. energy markets with clean-burning natural gas. In fact, BG was the largest LNG importer into the U.S., supplying around 55 percent of all LNG delivered during 2007. Key to our success in the LNG industry is BG’s flexible supply portfolio, worldwide market positions and our strategically located U.S. LNG assets in Lake Charles and Elba Island, Ga., which allow us to help meet the country’s growing energy demand.”
