Mitsumi Using Sequans Chips for Mobile WiMAX Devices
Posted on: Monday, 11 February 2008, 03:00 CST
Mitsumi, a world-leading manufacturer of multi-chip and system-in-package modules, is using Sequans chips to manufacture all-inclusive Mobile WiMAX modules. The first devices to be delivered by Mitsumi are an SD card, based on Sequans' SQN1130 Mobile WiMAX baseband chip, and an SDIO module, based on Sequans' SQN1130 baseband and SQN1140 RF chips. The latter, which features the highest available level of integration and includes all Mobile WiMAX functionality in a small 20X20 mm package, will be on display at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, February 11-14, in Sequans booth, number C-28, hall 2.
"Mitsumi has unparalleled expertise in module technology and we are very pleased to collaborate with them to bring these valuable Mobile WiMAX modules to market," said Bernard Aboussouan, Sequans' VP of marketing and business development. "Mitsumi has an aggressive development schedule and will be delivering smaller and smaller modules to embed in PCs and for other consumer electronics and mobile applications that provide powerful, all-in-one solutions for equipment manufacturers building Mobile WiMAX devices."
Mitsumi is using Sequans' award winning SQN1130 mobile station chip, which is WiMAX Forum Wave 2-ready, including both PHY and MAC layers and 2X2 MIMO and Sequans' new RF chip, the SQN1140, which complements the advanced MIMO technology of the SQN1130.
