Iberdrola Renewables has produced 14.71 billion kWh of electricity from renewable sources in 2007, an 87% increase from the 7.87 billion generated in 2006.
Wind power accounted for 12,545kWh and small-scale hydroelectric plants turned out 541 million kWh. Another 300,000kWh came from other sources, chiefly solar energy, the company said.
About half of the total power generated by the Iberdrola utility's renewables unit was in Spain, where 7.61 billion kWh was produced. Wind power accounted for 93% of this, and other sources, chiefly hydroelectric, for the remaining 7%.
In the US, Iberdrola's wind farms turned out 5.23 billion kWh, which amounted to 36% of the company's entire power output in the year. In the UK, Iberdrola Renewables produced 852 million kWh at its wind farms in 2007, and most of the remaining 1,011kWh of wind power was generated in other European countries.
