Manicouagan Minerals Inc.: Brabant Lake Zinc/Copper Deposit Exploration Update
Manicouagan Minerals Inc. (TSX VENTURE: MAM) is pleased to announce that it has completed its Phase II drill program at its Brabant Lake Zinc/Copper Deposit in Saskatchewan and that a resource estimate focused on the higher grade Lower Zone is expected to be completed by the end of April 2008.
Manicouagan commenced diamond drilling on the property in November 2006 with the objective of focusing on the higher grade Lower Zone. From November 6, 2006 to February 9, 2008 48 holes were drilled for a total of 15,221 metres. Assays are pending for holes 41 to 48. Surveying of the drill collar locations has just been completed and Manicouagan has retained Gerald A. Harron, P.Eng. of MPH Consulting Ltd. to compute the resource estimate.
Manicouagan acquired a 100% interest in the Brabant Lake property in June 2006 and has aggressively advanced the project since then. Based on drilling completed prior to Manicouagan’s acquisition of the property, the Brabant Lake property hosts an inferred mineral resource of 4,857,851 tonnes of 5.19% Zn, 0.57% Cu, 0.28% Pb, 22.59 g/t Ag and 0.22 g/t Au as set out in the 43-101 Technical Report prepared for Manicouagan by MPH Consulting Ltd. (amended and revised as of August 10, 2007 – effective date September 15, 2006). MPH also concluded that there was excellent potential to increase the size of the mineral resources and recommended a staged drill program to confirm and expand the limits of the known resource. The technical report can be viewed with the Company’s filings at www.sedar.com or at www.manicouaganminerals.com.
Joseph Baylis, President and CEO of Manicouagan Minerals stated that: “Manicouagan’s drilling at Brabant Lake has been focused on building resources in the higher grade Lower Zone. This is an appropriate time to prepare a resource estimate of the Lower Zone material to provide a benchmark to advance the project from.”
The Brabant Lake property consists of 21 contiguous claims registered as ML 5054 and is located immediately east of Highway 102 some 175 km from the all services community of La Ronge, Saskatchewan.
