Global Warming Solutions Initiates R & D for 1 MW LETG Solar Power Plant
Posted on: Friday, 15 February 2008, 15:00 CST
Global Warming Solutions, Inc. (Pink Sheets:GWSO) -- a developer of technologies aimed at mitigating the effects of global warming -- today announced that the company initiated research and development for a small LETG Solar Power Plant with a capacity of up to 1MW.
The LETG (Light Electric Thermal Generator) is a hybrid solar and thermal energy technology that generates energy by heating up liquids that circulate on the surface of a solar panel to produce electricity even during periods of no sunlight.
Recently Global Warming Solutions announced that it was preparing to develop a prototype electricity generating power plant based on the LETG technology. The plant would be a combination of an LETG with a low temperature thermal turbine.
"The LETG produces both electrical and thermal energy," said Dr. Alexander Kornaraki, Chief Operating Officer of Global Warming Solutions. "Electrical energy is produced by a photovoltaic process and thermal energy is gathered by the LETG heat-transfer medium. We will now be adding a low temperature heat to energy converter that will produce even more electricity from the LETG."
The rated levelized cost of developing the LETG Solar Power Plant is projected to be 1.9-2.2 times less than the levelized cost of a conventional Solar Thermal Plant.

Global Warming Solutions is also preparing an in depth presentation of its Solar Energy Technologies and will release it to investors and partners in the next few days.
About Global Warming Solutions, Inc.
Global Warming Solutions develops and commercializes technologies that help mitigate Global Warming and its effect on our planet. The Company targets three areas that help reduce the extent of Global Warming and fight issues that have arisen as a consequence: Clean Energy, Carbon Control, and Water Purification. Current climate models predict that global temperatures will rise sharply over the next century. The increase in temperatures can be slowed or eliminated by decreasing the amounts of greenhouse gases released into the Earth's atmosphere. Global Warming Solutions seeks to leverage its experience and management to help make a difference in the fight for climate control.
