Acciona Inaugurates Two Wind Parks in Spain
Spanish renewable power firm Acciona Energy has inaugurated the Serra del Tallat and Serra de Vilobi wind parks. With their joint capacity of 90MW, they represent 26% of installed wind power capacity in the Catalonia province of Spain.
They were connected to the grid in the last quarter of 2007 and represent an overall investment of E110.9 million. These two are in addition to three other wind facilities that Acciona owns in Catalonia, combining to reach a total capacity of 195MW or 57% of the total wind power capacity in the region at the end of 2007.
The two facilities will produce electricity equivalent to the consumption of 60,000 homes and will avoid the emission of around 200,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere per annum from conventional coal-fired thermal power stations, the company said.
The Serra del Tallat wind park, with a capacity of 49.5MW, is located in the municipalities of Vallbona de Les Monges and Passanant i Beltall. It has 33 wind turbines and required an investment of E61.4 million.
The Sierra de Vilobi facility, with a capacity of 40.5MW, is situated in Tarres and Fulleda. It is equipped with 27 wind turbines and required an investment of E49.5 million.
