Belarus Energy Minister Says Russian Gas Prices to Grow By 25 Per Cent This Year

The Russian gas price for Belarus will increase by an average of 25.3 per cent in 2008 in comparison with 2007, the Russian news agency ITAR-TASS reported on 15 February, quoting Belarusian Energy Minister Alyaksandr Azyarets as saying at the Energy Ministry’s board meeting.

Azyarets also said that the government will not opt for a sharp increase in energy prices for consumers. Electricity prices for consumers in the economy’s real sector were increased only by 0.9 per cent on 1 January and the prices for heating energy – by 1.36 per cent, the news agency quoted Azyarets as saying.
