MADRID, Feb. 20, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Telvent (Nasdaq:TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, announced that the Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) will install Telvent's supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA) at its control centers. The project is valued at more than 18 million euros.
Through this agreement, Telvent will supply products and solutions, including the implementation of remote terminal units (RTU), telecom infrastructure, solar power, hydraulic systems and engineering services, valued at more than 7 million euros. As a result, ADMA-OPCO will have a comprehensive solution to control its infrastructure, achieving the highest security level for its systems as well as providing technology that is environmentally conscious. This project demonstrates Telvent's ability to offer secure solutions to critical infrastructure, such as oil rigs and pipelines.
ADMA-OPCO, one of the leading companies in oil and gas production, focuses on the coast of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where it has the largest two offshore oilfields in the world: the Zakum and Umm Shaif. Telvent will install its SCADA system at the control centers of these two platforms; the installation along with the agreed solutions is expected to take approximately 18 to 24 months.
Larry Stack, Telvent's Energy President, pointed out: "This project marks a milestone not only for our energy business division but also geographically. It is a strategic region, where we are poised to work with one of the leading companies."
In addition, Telvent announced the opening of a local corporate office in the United Arab Emirates for comprehensive management of the project. This office will be important for Telvent's strategy to land future projects in the Middle East.
