Kose to Import Coty’s Rimmel Products in China

Coty and Kose have entered into a licensing agreement to distribute and manufacture the products of Coty’s make-up brand Rimmel in China.

The agreement provides for Kose to manufacture and distribute Rimmel products in China. The distribution is expected to commence in May 2008.

At the outset, Kose will begin by importing and distributing Rimmel products that include foundation, mascara, lipstick and eye shadow to select department stores and drugstores in China.

Women’s Wear Daily quoted Kazutoshi Kobayashi, president of Kose, as saying: “We are looking forward to expanding our strategic alliance with Coty and building upon our organizations’ collective strengths. We will combine Rimmel’s unique style with our expertise to develop and launch products that will appeal to the style of Chinese women.”

The two companies had initially signed a deal in 2006, as per which Kose began the distribution of Rimmel products in Japan.
