Cost Saving Maintenance Options in Oil Condition Testing For Mining and Power Generation Corporations

Posted on: Monday, 25 February 2008, 12:00 CST

Five international oil industry experts head the list of speakers for leading oil testing laboratory Oilcheck's conference on cost-saving maintenance options for major mining and power industry companies.

The conference, Condition Monitoring for Mining and Power Generation Industries, will be held at Sydney's Olympic Park, Homebush, on May 1 and 2. It will present and demonstrate new cost effective onsite oil testing technologies.

"The rising cost of oil is on everyone's mind. The conference will present a number of options involving cost effective on-site monitoring, new technology that makes it simple, quick and easy and can save companies time and tens and possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars a year," Mike Morrison, Managing Director of Oilcheck (www.oilcheck.com.au), said today.

Speakers include Dr. Mark Okasaki, product specialist, Chevron Texaco; Jo Ameye, vice-president sales and marketing, Fluitec International, Belgium; Greg Livingstone, Director Fluid Technology for EPT, Tucson Arizona; Dr. Ludger Quick, director of chemistry and metallurgy, Siemens Power Generation, Mülheim, Germany; Dr. Akira Sasaki, former managing director of Kleentek Corporation; Jim Forbes of Forbes Consulting, formerly with Caltex and Steve McDonald, National Plant Manager Leighton Contractors.

"On-site analysis provides immediate data as to the condition of the lubricant or the equipment. Having immediate data to hand, even if incomplete in comparison to full of-site analysis, enables maintenance decisions to be made which can avoid undue problems," Mr. Morrison explained.

"The conference is primarily aimed at senior maintenance personnel because they are instrumental in overseeing the maintenance budgets and have the authority and responsibility to act to reduce costs.

"It will coincide with the latest releases of some specialised oil testing equipment suitable for on-site analysis for remote sites."

Oilcheck has been a provider of oil condition monitoring and analysis services to the mining and power generation industries for more than 25 years, with offices and laboratories in Sydney and Perth.
