Iran: Official Reports Progress in Telecommunication in Province’s Villages

More than 1,700 villages in the northwestern Iranian province of Ardabil have been provided with telecommunication equipment, IRNA news agency quoted a senior official of the Telecommunication Company in Ardabil Province as saying on 25 February.

In an interview with IRNA on 25 February, the managing director of the Ardabil Telecommunication Company, Yavar Mohammad-Hoseyni, added that fibre-optic equipment had been installed in 368 villages in the province. He said that the number of telephone users of this kind of network had increased in the province.

Yavar Mohammad-Hoseyni went on to say that nearly 5,000 km of fibre-optic network had been installed in Ardabil Province as a whole. He said that fibre-optic lines installed in the province’s villages will connect them to the country’s network.
