Big Scores Rule at C.F. City Bowling Tournament

Feb. 26–CEDAR FALLS — It took a big score to cash a check at the 52nd annual Cedar Falls City Bowling Tournament contested at Valley Park Lanes over the weekend, and an even bigger number to take home the hardware.

The highlight of the tourney was the national-record 1,613 doubles series posted by Jacob Bedard and Shannon Buchan of Waterloo. They ran away with the title and denied Jeff DeBower and Scott DeBower, who settled for second with a 1,494 effort.

The singles winner was Jon Gibbs of Waterloo with a 769 series. That was four pins better than Marguerite DeBower’s 765.

In team competition, Pump Haus of Cedar Falls racked up 3,559 pins to outscore Valley Park Lanes III of Waterloo by 15 pins. North East Machine of Janesville also broke 3,500 with a third-place tally of 3,507.
