Utility-scale renewable energy project developer Cleantech America has named Mark Stout as its director of renewable technology planning.
Mr Stout will analyze the convergence of site-specific geographical data, natural resources, available technology and political and regulatory environments to identify new opportunities for the company to develop renewable energy projects across a variety of technologies and regions.
Mr Stout joined Cleantech America in 2006 and has been reportedly instrumental in helping the company win the California Public Utilities Commission approval for its CalRenew-1 project with PG&E. The project is claimed to be the largest utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar contract to obtain regulatory approval under the state's Renewables Portfolio Standard program, according to Cleantech.
Bill Barnes, CEO of Cleantech America, said: "Very large scale PV solar clearly has an important role to play in helping innovative utilities like PG&E meet California's ambitious renewable energy goals. Mark has helped us demonstrate that utility-scale solar is a reliable, deliverable, in-grid technology that can be rapidly permitted and put to work delivering peak, emission-free electricity where it is most needed."
