China to Build Npps With Domestic Technologies By 2017
SHANGHAI. March 6 (Interfax) – China will be ready to build nuclear power plants with licensed domestic technologies by 2017, the business newspaper Zhongguo Jingying Bao said with the reference to State Nuclear Power Technology Corp. General Manager Wang Binghua.
In the words of Wang, France and South Korea had been using technologies of the U.S. corporation Westinghouse before they developed their own technologies.
China is preparing to build four nuclear reactors for the coastal provinces of Shandong and Zhejiang with the use of Westinghouse AP1000 technologies.
Wang singled out a high-temperature reactor with a gas cooling system, which is being developed by several Chinese companies and universities.
