Canon to Double Camera Production in China
March 10, 2008
Canon plans to double digital camera production in China by 2009 and develop a new laser printer plant in Vietnam to cater to the demand in developing countries, reported Reuters, quoting an unidentified spokesman of the company.
Canon currently has a production capacity of nearly five million compact digital cameras at a factory in Guangdong, China. The rise in output is expected to increase the company’s worldwide digital camera production capacity by around 20%. The company has shipped 24.6 million digital cameras in 2007.
Canon is also likely to build a new low-cost printer assembling factory in northern Vietnam by investing $50 million.
