MCLEAN, Va., March 11, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Flight Explorer, a global flight tracking, information technology and communications solutions provider to the aviation community, today announced that Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) has selected Flight Explorer's FE Professional(tm) Aircraft Situation Display (ASD) system for use in its operations center and Flight Explorer Snapshot(tm) for use on the Airport's public Web site, www.srq-airport.com, as well as on multiple graphical displays throughout the airport.
The Flight Explorer ASD will be used in the operations center to provide airport operations personnel complete situational awareness of existing air traffic and weather conditions at and around the airport. Flight Explorer Snapshot will be utilized on the Airport's public Web site to provide pilots, travelers and airport authorities a comprehensive graphical picture of the current departure and arrival traffic and weather at the airport. SRQ will also be the first airport in the United States to display the Snapshot product in the terminal to provide travelers with a graphical display showing the current location of SRQ inbound and outbound air carrier flights and the U.S. weather radar image.
"We wanted to enhance our operational efficiency and provide our users with real time information on the status of both air carrier flights and the weather affecting them," said Rick Piccolo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sarasota Bradenton International Airport. "Flight Explorer is the industry-standard ASD and their Snapshot product provides an attractive display and information tool for our Web site and airport visitors. Both solutions will really help us deliver a great airport experience to our customers."
FE Professional is the industry's most accurate, reliable and widely-used ASD. The system goes beyond "flight tracking" by incorporating multiple data feeds, dynamic weather overlays, aircraft and airport situational alerts, full airport and aircraft history reports and predictive weather to make FE Professional an essential airport operations management tool.
"We are very excited that Sarasota Bradenton International Airport has chosen Flight Explorer to serve as a key component of their airport operations," said Flight Explorer CEO Jim Kelly. "We look forward to continuing to deliver the valuable product features and capabilities they require to meet their unique operations and customer service goals."
