NEW YORK, March 11 /PRNewswire/ — The following is being issued by www.InvestigateUdom.com, a web-based petition seeking an improved investigation into the cause of the One-Two-Go Airlines crash.
Southwest Airlines flew more than 70,000 flights without mandatory inspections for structural damage. Lufthansa had a wing- strike and near disaster in Hamburg, Germany. British Airways crashed at Heathrow Airport and the worst injury suffered was a broken leg. In Thailand, One-Two-Go Airlines crashed on landing and killed 90 people in a fireball.
The threat to air passenger safety is worldwide. Civil aviation authorities responsible for overseeing airline safety may be the difference between survival and death. In the US, the FAA is seeking $10M in fines from Southwest Airlines for missing inspections. The German and Britain flights remain under investigation.
The families of the people killed and injured in the crash in Thailand fear Thai authorities are not properly investigating the crash. Former pilots of the airline publicly allege illegal actions by the airline’s owner significantly contributed to the crash.
Udom Tantiprasongchai is the well-connected and influential owner and chairman of Orient Thai Airlines and its subsidiary One-Two-Go, which fly commercial routes in Asia, Europe and Thailand. The crash of OG 269 killed citizens of America, Australia, France, Germany, Iran, Israel, Sweden, Thailand and the United Kingdom.
The Thai Aviation Authorities (DCA) claim no cause for the crash has yet been determined. Yet, DCA director-general Wuthichai Singhamanee said, “No punishment will be imposed… because the accident was beyond control.”
Former Orient Thai pilots claim unsafe aircraft conditions, unsafe pilot conditions and bribery were a normal means of business at One-Two-Go. The families and friends of those killed on OG 269 fear Thai authorities are concluding the crash investigation far too expeditiously.
www.InvestigateUdom.comis a web-based petition asking the Thai Prime Minister to order an independent and transparent investigation into the crash of OG 269 including Udom Tantiprasongchai’s role. Signatures and comments at www.InvestigateUdom.cominclude those from Orient Thai pilots. http://www.InvestigateUdom.comis available in English, French, and German. Hebrew, Farsi and Thai will be online soon.
