Power-One Aurora(R) Commercial Inverters Selected for Spain's Largest Solar-Power Installation

Power-One, Inc. (Nasdaq:PWER) today announced that Aurora® PVI-Central inverters have been selected by the Energy Division of Isolux Corsán for use in what will be Spain's largest photovoltaic-power installation, and the second largest renewable-energy facility in the world. One hundred of these 300 kilowatt commercial inverters will be installed before September 2008 to process over 34 megawatts of solar power in this 180 acre installation.
Mr. Paolo Casini, Power-One's Alternative Energy Marketing Director commented, "We would like to thank Isolux Corsán for selecting our Aurora® PVI-Central inverters. When tested in accordance with IEC 61683 photovoltaic-system standards, these products can provide up to a 2.3% performance-ratio advantage compared to other commercial solutions; resulting in an additional 9,000 kilowatt hours per year for each inverter. With 100 inverters in this installation, almost one megawatt hour of added power can be generated annually."
Mr. Casini continued, "The PVI Central utilizes a modular architecture that enhances flexibility and reliability. Flexibility is improved through the ability to incorporate modules of different power ratings, which facilitates current-distribution optimization. Reliability is increased because the failure of an individual inverter does not impact the energy-harvesting capabilities of the other modules."
Aurora PVI-Central inverters are available in configurations from 50kW to 300kW, and feature high-speed maximum power point tracking channels and industry-leading efficiencies, to optimize energy harvesting across a wide range of operating conditions. These commercial-grade products are delivered pre-configured and pre-tested; significantly reducing on-site installation wiring and testing.
