German automobile manufacturer BMW has appointed Ian Robertson as its new board member for sales and marketing, with immediate effect.
Mr Robertson has been chairman and CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars since February 2005 and will remain in this capacity with the UK-based BMW subsidiary in Goodwood until his successor is announced.
Prior to Mr Robertson's appointment BMW supervisory board had granted Stefan Krause's request to be released from his position as board member for sales and marketing. Mr Krause's 20-year career with the BMW has seen him take on a wide range of international positions.
Norbert Reithofer, chairman of the board of management of BMW, said: "We respect Mr Krause's decision to terminate his contract prematurely and take on a new challenge outside the BMW."
