United Airlines Hikes Domestic Round-Trip Fares

March 18, 2008

United Airlines has increased round-trip fares on domestic flights in the US between $4 and $50 due to rising jet fuel costs.

According to Reuters, the airline has hiked fares between $4 and $10 for trips under 500 miles and between $8 and $30 for flights traveling 501 miles to 1,499 miles. Trips longer than 1,500 miles were raised between $12 and $50.

Robin Urbanski, spokeswoman of United Airlines, was quoted as saying: “Fuel is our highest expense. The cost of it continues to rise, and we must be able to pass along these costs just like other businesses do.”
