Shell Oil President to Retire

Integrated energy firm Shell Oil has announced that John Hofmeister will retire as its president effective June 1, 2008, and Marvin Odum, executive vice president for the Americas for Shell Exploration and Production, will succeed him, while keeping his current operational role.

Mr Hofmeister joined Shell in 1997 as director of human resources for the Shell Group. He returned to the US when he was named president of the Shell Oil Company on March 1, 2005.

Mr Odum joined Shell as an engineer in 1982 and has held a range of management positions in technical and commercial operations. He assumed his present position in May 2005.

In his prior assignment, Mr Odum was CEO of InterGen, a global power generation company. He also served as Shell Gas and Power’s director for the Americas.
