Syrian People’s Assembly Approves Establishing Joint-Stock Airline Company

Damascus, 18 Mar (SANA) – The People’s Assembly approved Tuesday [18 March] a draft law for establishing a joint-stock company between Syrian Airlines, Sham Holding, al-Akila for Trade, Financing and Investment, Akik Aviation Holding and Dashti Sons Investment Group.
The company was established according to an agreement signed by the founding partners according to the Syrian trade laws.
Minister of Transport Dr Yarub Badr said the new company will work alongside Syrian Airlines in the field of regular transport, providing flights to areas that Syrian Airlines doesn’t cover.
The People’s Assembly also approved a draft law on the agreement for ‘compatibility evaluation certificates’ between the Syrian and Tunisian governments. Minister of Industry Dr Fouad Isa Joni affirmed that this agreement will help increase trade exchange and industrial cooperation between the two countries.
The Assembly discussed a draft law on medical practitioners in the countryside stipulating that doctors, dentists and pharmacists must spend two years working in the countryside before receiving a license to work in central cities.
The Assembly referred a number of draft laws to specialized committees to be studied.
