Helix Electric Awarded Design-Build Electrical Contracting Project for UCSD North Campus Student Housing Community

Helix Electric, one of the largest open shop electrical contractors in the nation, has announced that it has been awarded the design-build electrical subcontracting work for the UCSD North Campus Student Housing Community project.

Helix Electric is providing the electrical systems to support a high-tech, safe and environmentally efficient dormitory, as well as seven additional low-rise buildings that will house a new café, book store and other community amenities. The $119-million project is slated for completion in 2009. This design-build project will add more than 1,030 beds in a 14-story building, mainly for undergraduate transfer students.

The project team for the UCSD North Campus Student Housing community includes the architect, MVE Institutional Inc., and the general contractor, Turner Construction. The owner is The Regents of the University of California, San Diego.
