Clean energy company Iberdrola Renovables has acquired a 49% interest in wind power firm Eolica 2000, which is developing a 32.3MW wind farm in Spain’s northern coastal region of Cantabria, with an option to purchase an additional 2%.
The first phase of the Canoneras wind farm in the Soba district is already in operation, and has an installed capacity of 17.85MW. The second stage, which will add another 14.45MW, is under development.
The wind farm will be the first operated by Iberdrola Renovables in the Cantabria region, where it has four mini-hydro plants with a total capacity of 14MW.
Iberdrola Renovables is also working on a wave energy plant, in the Cantabrian town of Santona, which will be able to generate 1.39MW of power.
