MORE than 750 Liverpool black cab drivers have now registered to work at John Lennon Airport.

And 450 of them have also taken the 08 Welcome course as part of Capital of Culture.

JLA started its Airport Black Cab scheme a year ago.

Drivers have to comply with an agreed code of conduct, and have also been encouraged to go on the cabbies’ 08 Welcome course jointly organised by Merseytravel, Liverpool Culture Company and the Transport and General Workers Union.

Cabbies who want to park on the airport rank have to buy credits costing pounds 1 per visit.

Since the scheme started, 15 have had disciplinary action for failing to comply with the agreed code of conduct.
