Hanoi (VNA) -Vietnam and China have launched an international land cable transmission system, a news report has said.

The system, jointly built by China Netcom Group and Vietnam’s Telecom International (VTI), has created a new international information superhighway between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), according to the People’s Daily of China.

The new system will help China increase its capacity to communicate with Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries, and to promote cooperation within the China -ASEAN Free Trade Area.

The international fibre optic cable runs from China’s Guangxi province to two ports in Vietnam and link China with other ASEAN countries via Vietnam.
