Porter Airlines Launches Service Between Toronto and New York

TORONTO, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Porter Airlines today introduces new and innovative air service between Toronto and New York. The standard-setting carrier will acquaint New Yorkers with the airline's unique premium short-haul air travel model committed to convenience, speed and service. The Toronto-based airline enters the U.S. market with the launch of seven daily roundtrip flights between Newark Liberty International Airport and Toronto City Centre Airport (TCCA). The ceremonial first flight for the new route is scheduled to arrive at Terminal B in Newark at 10:30 a.m. and will be greeted by the airport's traditional fire truck water salute.
Porter Airlines is already known in the Canadian market for its simple fare structure, convenient downtown Toronto airport location and outstanding service. These service enhancements are expected to make Porter Airlines the carrier of choice for travellers on the Toronto-New York route.
"The introduction of Porter's Toronto-New York route makes air travel between two of North America's most important business and cultural centres easier than ever," said Don Carty, chairman of Porter Airlines. "We've seized an opportunity to redefine short-haul air travel and offer passengers more than transportation. Our commitment to service is reflected in our schedules, fare structure and complimentary amenities."
Porter Airlines flies from its own dedicated terminal at Toronto City Centre Airport, one of the most convenient urban airports in the world, situated just minutes from downtown. Complimentary Porter shuttle buses offer passengers a short transfer to the financial and entertainment districts. The airport is also accessible by bus, train, taxi, limousine or personal vehicle.
"We are excited to introduce New Yorkers to the Porter experience, which makes air travel dignified, sophisticated and stress-free in a way that was more common in past decades," said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. "With our location at TCCA, we can save passengers up to two hours or more of travel time compared to what they would experience flying out of busy, congested Pearson Airport. That's a great proposition for time-sensitive business travellers."
Known for reliability, quality and efficiency, Porter provides passengers with warm and effortless hospitality. While on board, passengers enjoy complimentary premium snacks, wine and beer, a spacious cabin environment with leather seating, and extra legroom. All Porter passengers have access to a modern, comfortable and stylish lounge at Toronto City Centre Airport, including wireless Internet access, refreshments, and work stations.
Porter Airlines flies 70-seat Bombardier Q400 aircraft featuring jet-like cruise speed, revolutionary cabin noise-reduction technology and environmentally-friendly engines. As part of the airline's expansion into the U.S., Porter has already taken delivery of six new aircraft with six additional aircraft expected to be delivered in the next 12 months to broaden the route network from Toronto to destinations such as Boston, Chicago, Washington and Philadelphia.
Weekday service between Toronto and New York will be complemented by two Saturday roundtrips and three Sunday roundtrips. Passengers can purchase tickets for Porter flights at http://www.flyporter.com/ or (888) 619-8622.
