Globecomm Bags $16.9 Million Multiple Contracts From US Government Agency

Globecomm Systems, a provider of satellite-based communications infrastructure solutions and services, has been awarded multiple contracts from a US government agency valued at $16.9 million.

Pursuant to the first contract, valued at $13.7 million, Globecomm will provide the customer with several tactical portable satellite terminals (C and Ku band) and AxxSys Orion monitor and control software for network monitoring of several facilities. The second contract, valued at $3.2 million, is for Ku and X-band Auto Explorer terminals.

Mike Plourde, vice president of government programs at Globecomm Systems, said: "Demand for the company's portable satellite communications line of terminals remains strong. Globecomm's R&D investment in X-band products is starting to generate new business, providing another variant to the Auto-Explorer product line. We intend to continue this investment in research and development as the Government begins to move towards the growing use X and Ka band frequencies."
