Adventure Gold Begins 3,000 Meter Drill Program at Beaufor West

Posted on: Wednesday, 2 April 2008, 09:00 CDT

Adventure Gold Inc. (TSX VENTURE: AGE) (the "Company") is pleased to announce the commencement of its first drill program on the Company's 100%-owned Beaufor West property, just east of the Val d'Or mining camp, Quebec.

The focus of the first phase of the program, which started on March 31st, is to drill-test the south-western and in-depth extensions of the Beaufor Mine, a producing gold mine operated jointly by Richmont Mines and Louvem Mines. Two new drill holes and the deepening of a previous hole drilled in 1996 (Hole #96-1), will test the Beaufor Mine gold-bearing vein system a few hundred meters away from the underground mining operation. A fourth hole will test a near-surface target in the western part of the property, for a total of 1,500 meters. Please see the company website at www.adventure-gold.com, Figures 1 and 2, for the location of the drill targets. The second phase of the drill program, totalling 1,500 meters, is scheduled for the Company's 100%-owned Beaufor North and Lapaska properties, both located east of Val d'Or, upon completion of Phase 1 of the drill program.

The Beaufor, Perron and Pascalis mines, known collectively as the "Beaufor Mine" belong to the same kilometric gold-bearing hydrothermal system. The total production for the Beaufor Mine is more than 900,000 ounces Au grading between 7.0 g/t Au to 8.5 g/t Au (Richmont Mines, 2006). Auriferous quartz veins occur in association with shear zones moderately dipping south-westward. Mineralization is associated with the quartz-tourmaline veins resulting from the filling of shear and tensional fractures. The Beaufor deposit lies within the Bourlamaque Batholith and it is generally limited to the north by the Perron Fault and closely associated with the Beaufor Fault. These faults strike E-W and dip 70 degrees to 80 degrees to the north. The auriferous quartz veins are related to the mafic dykes crosscutting the granodiorite. The eastern contact, which is located between the batholith and the volcanic rocks, forms the north-eastern limit of the Beaufor deposit, which gently dips to the east. The south-western limit of the deposit is anticipated to be found at depth in the north-eastern limit of the Beaufor West property.

Innovexplo, a mining and exploration consulting firm based in Val d'Or Quebec, is carrying out the technical and geological work for this two-phase drill program. This press release was prepared by Marco Gagnon, P. Geo. and President & CEO of Adventure Gold, who acts as the Company's Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101.
