April 2, 2008
Raser Technologies has won land-use approval to site a 10- megawatt geothermal plant on six acres of a Southern Oregon farm.
The Utah company estimates it will need another 300 acres for the wells that will feed underground hot water to the plant, which is expected to cost about $35 million to buildJeremy Magrath, a spokesman for Raser, told the Herald and News there’s no specific construction start date. However, the company wants to complete the project by the end of the year in order to take advantage of green incentives before they expire, Magrath said.
