Thai Airways to Replace Aging Aircraft With 65 New Jets
April 7, 2008
Thai Airways International may replace its aging fleet by purchasing 65 aircraft, including eight jets that can accommodate more than 400 passengers each, Bloomberg has reported.
The company is expected to retire 47 aircraft from its existing fleet and induct 23 smaller planes, such as 787s or A350s, 20 single-aisle Airbus A320s, and 14 787s, apart from the jumbos.
Teeratat Pornpiboon, vice president of Thai Airways, has said that for the jumbo planes, the airline may either extend its existing order for six Airbus SAS A380s or opt for Boeing’s B747-8s.
