Eaglecrest Drills 9.3 Metres of 10.5 Grams Per Tonne Gold

Posted on: Tuesday, 8 April 2008, 09:03 CDT

Eaglecrest Explorations Ltd. (TSX VENTURE: EEL) (FRANKFURT: EAT) today announced results from 16 drill holes completed in February and March 2008 at the San Simon project in northeastern Bolivia. Highlights include dh314, with 9.3 metres at 10.5 grams per tonne gold, located in the San Pedro West high-grade gold shoot, and dh311, with 3.1 metres at 7.2 grams per tonne gold in the L463 E high-grade gold shoot.

"The high-grade intercept in dh314 demonstrates the potential for both thickness and grade in the San Pedro West high-grade gold shoot and validates our strategic initiative to drill the third shoot at San Simon," said Hans Rasmussen, President and Chief Operating Officer. "We have at least five more shoots that have been identified in 3D models of previous drill results along the four-kilometre Dona Amelia Zone that we intend to pursue through our 25-metre offset drill program."

The table below shows the gold intercepts from the 16 drill holes that are longer than 0.5 metres and grade more than 1 gram per tonne. Intervals grading above 5 grams per tonne are highlighted.

(i) from, to, length, and width in this table are expressed in metres; width represents approximate true thickness. Assay intervals use a cutoff grade of 1 gram/tonne gold.

A complete table of the recent diamond drill hole assay results is posted on the Company's website at www.eaglecrestexplorations.com. A three-dimensional presentation of all drill hole results can be viewed at www.corebox.net/properties/san_simon/.

The drilling in the 16 holes totaled 3,766 metres. Hole dh311 fills a gap in the drilling pattern at the L463 high-grade gold shoot and is the last of the currently planned holes in the L463 shoot. The Company is building a geologic model of the L463 high-grade gold shoot using newly acquired Gemcom software. The new model may provide additional locations to further target high-grade intervals of gold mineralization.

Hole dh314 is in the San Pedro West high-grade gold shoot, the third of the recognized shoots to be drilled on a 25 metre pattern. As mentioned in the Company's March 18, 2008 news release, San Pedro West is located 200 metres east of the L463 shoot and 350 metres east of the L484 shoot. All three shoots are within a one kilometre sector of the four-kilometre long Trinidad-Manganeso Thrust, which is one of several thrust faults that have been identified as a host of gold mineralization in the San Simon district.

While performing a detailed review of drill core in 2007, Eaglecrest's geologists determined that some zones of gold mineralization had not previously been sampled, so a systematic re-logging and re-sampling program was undertaken. The recent results, shown in the table above, include intervals in dh039 and dh169 generated by re-sampling that assay more than 1 gram gold per tonne. The re-logging program is nearly complete for the L463 shoot as the Company begins to compile the geologic model for the initial resource calculation.

The technical information in this News Release has been reviewed and approved by Dr. Odin Christensen, a technical consultant and Eaglecrest board member, who is a Qualified Person in accordance with National Instrument 43-101 Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects. The drill core samples were prepared at the on-site fire assay laboratory that is independently operated by Analab S.A. of Peru and is under the overall supervision of Gary Hawthorn, a Mineral Processing Engineer and a Qualified Person under NI 43-101.
