Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion has secured contracts for the second phase of a 20MW solar plant in the Spanish province of Caceres. The installation, on a 178-hectare site, is expected to be in operation by September 2008.
The project, called Abertura FV, was awarded by Aliwin Plus to Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion (Iberinco), the engineering unit of the Spanish utility Iberdrola. Work has also reportedly begun on the first phase of the project, a 10MW installation on an area of almost 100 hectares.
The contracts reportedly help Iberinco to consolidate its position in the renewable energy industry, in which it won new contracts from non-group clients worth E223.5 million, in 2007.
