SARATOV. April 9 (Interfax) – The fourth energy unit of the Balakovo Nuclear Power Plat (NPP), Saratov region, was reconnected to the grid at 6.36 Moscow time on April 8, after a malfunction in an external energy circuit had been fixed, Rosenergoatom said in a statement posted on its web site on Wednesday.

The second and third energy units of the NPP were restored to their full capacity as well, the statement says.

Currently, all four energy units of the Balakovo NPP are operational. As of 8 a.m. Moscow time of April 9, the total capacity of the NPP was 3.967 billion megawatts.

It was reported earlier that the output of the Balakovo NPP was reduced on Tuesday, following failures at the Kuibyshevskaya-1 and Kuibyshevskaya-2 power transmission lines. The fourth energy unit was disconnected from the grid and operated at a capacity of 40 megawatts. The output of the second and third energy units was decreased 30%. The first energy unit operated at the rated capacity of 1,000 megawatts.
