Gulf Ethanol to Purchase Biodiesel Plant From Systems Management Group
Posted on: Friday, 11 April 2008, 12:00 CDT
Alternative fuel producer Gulf Ethanol has signed a letter of intent to purchase a biodiesel plant owned and operated by Systems Management Group.
Gulf Ethanol plans to relocate this plant to Central America to produce biodiesel out of palm oil. The plant has produced biodiesel for commercial users in the US prior to price increases in feedstocks that made production non-viable in the US.
The plant can produce up to 500,000 gallons per month of biodiesel, reportedly making it one of the largest producers in the US.
JT Cloud, Gulf's president, said: "We see this as a big step forward in our dual fuels strategy. This plant gives us a proven technology for the production of biodiesel that we can deploy throughout Central America where feed stocks are plentiful and fuels are needed."
