Small Price to Pay for Air Travel
By R.R.
WITH reference to the letter “Adjust fuel surcharge, not impose new fee” (NST, April 10), I wish to venture a word in defence of AirAsia.
For goodness sake, Mr Ghosh, by flying AirAsia you’re already saving as much as two-thirds the price of a ticket on any other airline. What’s an extra RM3 for the luggage you can check in?
In the company’s well-known tagline, “now everyone can fly”, the “everyone” refers to people who used to travel by bus or train. These folk are now flying AirAsia.
However, you must have noticed that they haven’t changed their luggage habits.
AirAsia routinely checks in mountains of cardboard boxes and plastic bags tied together with string and raffia.
This market sector still travels like refugees.
Let the carrier defray its fuel costs by controlling its passengers’ cargo.
