Shell Oil’s 667-mile, 40-inch Capline crude oil pipeline has remained closed as repair work is being undertaken to fix a leak discovered in Tennessee, according to Reuters.

Shell has not provided any updates on the schedule for restarting the pipeline which brings crude produced in the Gulf of Mexico to the US Midwest. The pipeline was reportedly taken off line as a crack was discovered by a technician.

Reuters reported that the Capline pipeline transports crude oil from offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico to a terminal in Patoka, Illinois.
