Frankfurt Airport Q1 Passenger Traffic Up
Frankfurt Airport has reported that it has served a total of 12.25 million passengers in the first quarter of 2008, an increase of 3.6%, compared to the same period in 2007.
Airfreight throughput at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) rose by 4.4% to 513,331 metric tons from January to March 2008. Airmail slipped, as expected, by 1% to 22,846 metric tons. The number of aircraft movements declined by 0.3% to 116,288 takeoffs and landings, while the accumulated maximum takeoff weights increased by 1.7% to 6.75 million metric tons.
In the first quarter of 2008, the Fraport group’s majority-owned airports (Frankfurt, Frankfurt-Hahn, Antalya, Lima, Burgas and Varna) welcomed a total of 16.1 million passengers, up 4.4%, and handled 615,915 metric tons of cargo, up 7.3%, compared to the same period in 2007. The number of aircraft movements climbed by 2.8% to 160,423 takeoffs and landings.
In March 2008, Frankfurt Airport reported a slight 0.2% decline in traffic to 4.44 million passengers. Airfreight rose during the same period by 2% to 188,557 metric tons. FRA’s 7,462 metric tons of airmail represented a calculated 7.6% slide.
