In the summer of 2008, beverage and ice-cream companies will be introducing several new products in India, reported Times News Network.
The products that are to be offered this summer include: sugar-free and probiotic ice creams, low-sugar aerated drinks, juices with western and Indian flavors, milk food drinks, localized drinks and many varieties in cold coffees and ice teas.
In line with this, PepsiCo has recently reintroduced its Slice mango drink. Coca-Cola has commissioned new lines of juices for its Minute Maid and Maaza brands. Dabur's Real and Parle Agro's Frooti are also expected to come up with new products in the juices and juice-based drinks category.
Hindustan Unilever's Kwality Walls and Amul have already done a price correction on select stock-keeping units of ice creams. Therefore, they may not announce another price hike in the near future. Nestle is believed to be mulling over its probiotic curd plans once again.
R Sodhi, chief general manager of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, said: "April-June accounts for about 60% of annual sales of ice creams and flavored milk. We have a range of initiatives planned for the season."
